SUPPORTING OUR PIRATES COMMUNITY

FREE ADVERTISING FOR LOCAL BUSINESSES 🏀💚

Hello Pirates, The recent COVID Stage 4 restrictions in Victoria have not been easy at all for many individuals and families operating their own business throughout Altona and connecting suburbs. We know this continues to be one of the greatest challenges during these tough times. As a way to assist our local Pirates community, the Committee have decided to create and offer FREE advertising spaces for family operated businesses, to be included in the club’s monthly Newsletter. We hope that this can assist and support these businesses, especially with a greater presence of online shopping, ordering and purchasing in the current time. Initially, we will look to fill 10 spaces – dependent on numbers, this may increase with demand. If you would like to register your interest, please email us at info@altonapirates.com.au or Private Message us here on Facebook, and we will send through details. The Pirates Committee

COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS UPDATE THURSDAY 9th JULY, 2020

Dear the Pirates Community, On Tuesday, 7th July, the Victorian Government decided to reimpose COVID-19 restrictions across 31 local government areas for 6 weeks (from 11:59pm, Wednesday 8th July), due to the worsening nature of the pandemic across several communities and areas around our state.

These restrictions will limit movements for only 4 reasons – work or school, care or care giving, daily exercise and food/essentials. It does not include club endorsed sport and recreation activities.

With the recommencement of these restrictions, we regretfully advise that all current and upcoming training has now been cancelled for all teams indefinitely, both at the Altona Stadium and the Altona College. Further, this will also suspend the recommencement of competition at the Altona Stadium, which was planned to resume on Friday, 24th July.

These decisions have been made in accordance with all guidelines from the Victoria Government, Basketball Victoria, Altona Bay Basketball Association, and the Altona Sports Centre.

This is not the news we would have liked to deliver at this stage, particularly as preparations were recommencing for Basketball to restart in late July. We understand the various challenges that these restrictions will have over these next 6 weeks, particularly for physical, mental, and social health.

As important news and updates are released, the Committee will ensure to share these across our website and social media accounts. Coaches and Team Managers will also be notified to share this information to their respective teams.

We encourage you to follow our social media accounts for timely updates to news and notifications, as below:
